Most of all, Enjoy what you do. Maybe it’s because I only came to writing so late that I love it so much. There is no part of the writing process that I don’t enjoy, apart from the eyeball popping grind of looking for typos. Those little critters are insidious. I think if writing stops becoming a joy, and instead turns into some desperate attempt to conform, or merely churn out words with riches and fame as the only desired outcome, your readers will feel that, and possibly not like what you have to say.
Don’t ever think you know it all. There’s always more to learn.
I find something new to learn every single day.
Read all you can and learn from those who’ve gone before, and are kind enough to share what they know.
