Can you tell us how life led you to write ‘The Guardian Chronicles?

I have always written, but more for my own pleasure than anything else. But I always wanted to write a novel and when my husband and I left Dubai because of his work, I had time on my hands. I had already been thinking of writing a novel and I wanted to write about strong women. At first it was going to be a very different series, but it ended up being an epic story about good and evil and about how no matter where we are in this world we are all connected and need to try and embrace our differences.

Can you describe a typical day?

I get up early and have breakfast with my husband. Once I get him off to work, I start my day. I usually write until midday and sometimes later when I have a good flow. Then do some exercise and anything else that needs doing. I meet up with friends, have lunch etc. Evenings are spent with my husband doing whatever. We like to eat out and the movies and we walk quite a bit.

Do you have a plan when you start a story: do you follow it or can it change?

I have the idea, usually the beginning and how the book will end and before I start to write, I have already decided on a lot of the characters and how the story will develop. But after I do the first draft, the ending can change a little or some of the finer details, but in general I like to keep to the story. In the past I have tried to change it, but it never seems to work out.
