Frictional wear occurs due to many reasons, it may occur due to the temperature, type
of the material involved, maintenance, pressure, combustion efficiency, and movement
between the two surfaces
Cylinder wear also occurs due to the burning of fuel oil in the combustion space, this is
because of the presence of heavy sulphur content in the fuel oil. Lower the temperature
in the combustion chamber rises due to the low load operation if the oil quantity is not
given according to the load, then corrosion may easily occur in the ​ cylinder liner​ .
Conclusion
These are the main reasons for cylinder liner failures but we can prevent these
damages if will pay extra attention to prevent it. So must maintain a constant load and
supply the sufficient amount of oil to avoid the damage.
