CLIMATE
Zanzibar is warm all year
round, but officially summer
peaks in December, and
winter in June. June to
October are typically the
cooler months whilst
December to February are
hot and dry.
For more popular (but no less beautiful) beaches, travel
to the northern end of the island. The large fishing village
of Nungwi was traditionally a dhow-building centre and
is home to a truly stunning shore. The azure waters and
powder white sands provide a picture-perfect backdrop
along with the banana palms, mangroves and coconut
trees. After a relaxing day on the beach, experience the
local culture in one of the bars or restaurants in the
village.
UNDER THE SEA
Encompassed by vibrant coral reefs, the East Coast is rich
in marine diversity. Because of this, Zanzibar is an ideal destination
for snorkelling and is reputed to have some of the best diving
sites in the world. Whether you and your partner are beginners
or experienced divers, the several dive centres across the
island are perfect for learning or upgrading your diving
qualification. Good visibility is ensured throughout the
year in the clear warm waters, where you can witness tropical
fish, barracuda, tuna and many more! The best times to
scuba dive off the coast of Zanzibar are in July and August,
and February and March.
