June to October are typically the cooler months whilst December to February are hot and dry. For more popular (but no less beautiful) beaches, travel to the northern end of the island. The large fishing village of Nungwi was traditionally a dhow-building centre and is home to a truly stunning shore. The azure waters and powder white sands provide a picture-perfect backdrop along with the banana palms, mangroves and coconut trees.
