VISIT OF INDIAN VICE
PRESIDENT TO MALAWI
A
t the invitation of the Government of
the Republic of Malawi, Honourable
Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President
of the Republic of India, paid a 2-day bilateral
Visit to Malawi, from 4th to 5th November
2018 aimed at strengthening the cordial and
fraternal bilateral cooperation existing between
the two countries.
He was accompanied by a high-level
delegation comprising Honourable Minister of
State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri
Krishan Pal Gurjar, two Members of Parliament
and Senior Government Offi cials.
The Vice President was accorded a high-
level ceremonial welcome on arrival. During
the visit, he met His Excellency Prof. Arthur
Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of
Malawi, and had discussions on a wide range

of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual
interest.
His Excellency the President expressed
great satisfaction on strong bonds and mutually
benefi cial relations between Malawi and India.
His Excellency the President reassured the Vice
President that the Government of Malawi was
fully committed to taking relations between
the two countries to greater heights for mutual
benefi t. President Mutharika also urged the
Indian Private sector to invest in manufacturing
in Malawi.
In his remarks, the Vice President
underscored the importance of the warm and
close ties between Malawi and India. He re-
affirmed the desire to strengthen political,
economic, commercial, technical, educational
and agricultural cooperation between India
