OUR CURRENT FOCUS NEXT STEPS
• As a result of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 health emergency , project partners sought to close the digital divide and the longstanding lack of digital infrastructure in the neighborhood exacerbated by the closure of schools , libraries and other public facilities . A pop-up Tech Hub was launched at India Basin Shoreline Park in September 2020 and is currently open Monday through Friday . At the Tech Hub , community members are able to access the Internet , use loaned devices and receive technology support or training in a safe outdoor setting amid the pandemic .
• In partnership with the YMCA of San Francisco , Recreation and Park Department staff are currently working on ensuring water safety among all of the approximately 6,000 youth ages 5 to 18 in the 94124 zip code . We plan to launch a pilot learn-to-swim program in 2022 to help assess the water safety needs of the community .
• Through the 11th Street Bridge Grant , the A . Philip Randolph Institute San Francisco and the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development are working on removing barriers to work and providing construction job training for 26 to 30 District 10 residents ( 13 to 15 per year over two years ) with the goal that they get jobs as a part of the Project .
