STRATEGY 3 : PRIORITIZE PUBLIC SAFETY IN AND AROUND THE PARK
Explore channels for alternative and inclusive community-led public safety systems to ensure the physical and emotional safety of Park patrons .
Initiatives INITIATIVES :
• Collaborate with City agencies to improve nighttime safety for pedestrians by increasing lighting and reflective striping along Hunters Point Boulevard and Innes Avenue
• Explore nontraditional methods to increase safety , including lighting elements and music streamed in key spaces and walking corridors
• Explore the use of neighborhood-based community ambassadors to improve safety and prevent and address adverse behavior within the Park , which would help allay the need for law enforcement intervention
• Initiate pedestrian and public safety programming in conjunction with local area schools and community-based organizations
• Partner with City agencies and local nonprofits to dispatch social workers to provide services and resources to local , unhoused residents and those in need

Creating a more equitable culture around public space must account for the physical and emotional safety of all patrons .
