STRATEGY 1 : IMPROVE NEIGHBORHOOD ACCESS TO THE PARK
Ensure safe , well-designed routes to , from and within the Park that will accommodate all modes of transportation .
STRATEGY 2 : INCREASE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TRANSIT OPTIONS BETWEEN THE THIRD STREET CORRIDOR , THE PARK AND THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD
Ensure park is accessible from the Third Street Corridor and BVHP neighborhood by public transit , private vehicle and park shuttle .
Initiatives INITIATIVES
• Support and advocate for the creation of safe street crossings to the Park on Innes Avenue and Hunters Point Boulevard with traffic-calming features including additional lighting , signage and bright painted surfaces
• Create safe bike lanes within the Park and along Hunters Point Boulevard
• Advocate for maintenance , expansion and improvement of bike lanes including protected rights of way for bicycles , micromobility vehicles and pedestrians
• Increase the number of bike-share stations around the Park and India Basin
• Improve stairways that connect public and affordable housing along Hunters Point Ridge to the Park
INITIATIVES
• Coordinate with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency ( SFMTA ) to ensure the Park is served by a robust public transit schedule and plentiful , clean and well-maintained bus shelters that facilitate safe , easy and reliable access to the Park
• Support and advocate for the creation of a free or subsidized park shuttle system connecting the Park to neighborhood housing complexes , the Third Street Commercial Corridor and other commercial and transit hubs in BVHP such as BART and Caltrain
• Secure additional parking at off-site locations to accommodate larger events at the Park and manage traffic congestion
• Ensure adequate ADA-compliant parking for patrons with limited mobility
• Advocate for public parking to be provided by adjacent developments
