AREA OF FOCUS # 3

CONNECTIVITY , TRANSIT , ACCESS & SAFETY

One of the key benefits of the BVHP neighborhood is its proximity to the Bay , although quality waterfront access remains a challenge meriting continued exploration . The lack of destinations in and around Innes Avenue combined with the steep topography of Hunters Point Ridge make residents unlikely to come down the hill on the Bay-facing side . Culturally relevant improved parks and amenities at India Basin are expected to draw residents of all abilities from throughout the neighborhood . When designed correctly , multimodal corridors can increase safety for all users , especially pedestrians .
Making the Park more accessible , therefore , must also consider evolving perceptions of safety . Creating a more equitable culture around public space must account for the physical and emotional safety of all patrons .
