STRATEGY 2 : PROVIDE TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATIONS OF THE PARK
Align with workforce training organizations to provide skills training and mentorship opportunities to residents , with an emphasis on Office of Economic and Workforce Development ( OEWD ) -identified emerging industries : hospitality , health care , technology and construction . This strategy will include youth and young adults ( See Youth Opportunities for additional training and mentorship strategies .)
INITIATIVES
• Host well-publicized job / career resource fairs , job training and resume-building workshops at the Park
• Work with the OEWD CityBuild Academy and other labor and community partners to help disadvantaged job seekers in the community develop construction skills and industry credentials that open the door to construction work at India Basin and beyond
• Explore opportunities for BVHP residents to become apprentices in the RPD-Local 261 Gardener Apprentice Program , providing pathways to employment at India Basin
• Cultivate philanthropic funding for continued job training / career investment in BVHP
