India Basin Equitable Development Plan (EDP) | Page 3

A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR LONDON BREED
Greetings !
As Mayor , I want to offer a sincere congratulations to everyone who worked on this Equitable Development Plan . Your contribution and partnership have produced a critical roadmap to building a world class waterfront park while preserving the culture and identity of Bayview- Hunters Point . Thank you to the Bayview-Hunters Point Community , the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department , A . Philip Randolph Institute , Inc ., San Francisco Parks Alliance and the Trust for Public Land for your collaboration .
The Equitable Development Plan is a community-oriented plan that outlines a series of commitments to be honored by SF Rec and Park and partner agencies . The plan was driven by a Leadership Committee comprised of more than 20 Bayview-Hunters Point community members . Together , they identified six important areas of focus on this project : Arts , Culture and Identity ; Workforce and Business Development ; Transportation , Access and Connectivity ; Healthy Communities and Ecology ; Youth Opportunities ; and Housing Security .
The India Basin project provides an important opportunity to work alongside the community to address social , economic and environmental justice issues in this historically underserved and neglected neighborhood . India Basin is much more than a park . It is the opportunity to create a cultural anchor for equitable economic growth and development , benefitting existing residents of neighborhoods long excluded from the City ’ s economic progress .
The completion of the Equitable Development Plan marks an important milestone in this oncein-a-generation parks project . I look forward to the incredible opportunities it will bring to the community and the city .
Sincerely ,
Mayor London N . Breed
