This Equitable Development Plan identifies six community-driven areas of focus :
Arts , Culture and Identity
Workforce and Business Development that sets forth a series of transparent strategies and commitments to be honored by RPD as well as partner agencies .
Goals of the Equitable Development Plan
• Support the development of the India Basin Waterfront Park designed in partnership with the BVHP community
• Work to correct environmental injustices within BVHP and reduce their impact
• Utilize the project to combat systemic racism
• Actively work to prevent displacement of the Black community living and working in BVHP
• Provide sustained resources that support and guide ongoing community organizing , capacity-building and decision-making efforts within BVHP
• Leverage the Park as a catalyst for environmental remediation and regeneration
Acting as local consultants with experience in economic and community development , and with deep community ties across BVHP , the Leadership Committee continues to provide direction on all facets of the project including interim activation , construction , fundraising and EDP implementation .

Each area of focus contains :
• Strategies : prioritized ideas and stated goals for realizing the values of the community
• Initiatives within each strategy : specific actions and programs to reach stated goals
The next steps in the process will include charting a multi-phase roadmap for the plan ’ s implementation ; launching a robust fundraising effort ; pursuing the plan ’ s strategies and initiatives in greater detail ; and establishing metrics and key performance indicators for monitoring and managing progress toward the Park ’ s equitable development goals .
