To the EDP Team ,
Congratulations on the completion of the India Basin Equitable Development Plan ! This document helps set a transformative course of action for housing policy , economic growth , empowerment , and environmental improvements in a community that has long been underserved .
Thank you to the Bayview-Hunters Point community , San Francisco Recreation and Park Department , A . Philip Randolph Institute , Inc ., San Francisco Parks Alliance , and the Trust for Public Land for their groundbreaking work in writing and publishing the Equitable Development Plan ( EDP ). The Mayor ’ s Office of Housing and Community Development ( MOHCD ) is proud to be a partner in this important work , and we look forward to the completion of the India Basin Waterfront Park project .
The EDP strategies and initiatives most directly related to the work of the MOHCD are those aligned with our agency ’ s mission to advance housing opportunity , community stabilization and anti-displacement . This plan , spearheaded by the existing Bayview-Hunters Point community , creates the clear and community led framework for MOHCD to work with Bayview-Hunters Point residents on the critical issues of affordable housing , increased public waterfront access , and more spaces for people to thrive . There is a tremendous amount of pride , diverse culture , and deep commitment within the community , and the EDP sets a roadmap to ensure the goals of the plan are met .
We are excited to lend our support and expertise to help implement the strategies and initiatives set forth in the EDP that will provide more equitable and affordable housing in Bayview-Hunters Point .
Sincerely ,
Eric Shaw Director , Mayor ’ s Office of Housing and Community Development
