Letter from the Equitable Development Plan Leadership Committee
The Equitable Development Plan Leadership Committee is proud to share with you our community ’ s plan to equitably invest in a community that for decades has been underserved and neglected . We are a group comprised of more than 20 Bayview-Hunters Point community members who were brought together to develop a plan to ensure the India Basin Waterfront Park project benefits and reflects the history , culture and diversity of Bayview-Hunters Point and its residents .
For approximately two years , we have worked together on a community led process to retain the culture , identity , and sense of pride within our neighborhood as the project design plans are being defined and finalized and the renovation of the Park commences . Working collaboratively as a Leadership Committee , we identified six important areas of focus to achieve our goal of an equitable , culturally respectful revitalization project that promotes and supports sustainable economic opportunities , enforceable anti-displacement rules and systemic practices , environmental health policies and code , and more . The areas of focus to help achieve this are :
• Arts , Culture & Identity
• Workforce & Business Development
• Transportation , Access & Connectivity
• Healthy Communities & Ecology
• Youth Opportunities
• Housing Security
We are honored to share the culmination of our work known as the India Basin Equitable Development Plan .
Thank you to the community , San Francisco Recreation and Park Department , A . Philip Randolph Institute , Inc ., San Francisco Parks Alliance and the Trust for Public Land for your assistance in crafting the Equitable Development Plan . We are pleased with the development of the plan and feel that it addresses the critical components to ensure our needs are met , provides a roadmap for accountability , and tools for measuring and ensuring success for the mission of this project .
