Goal 5 : The Park Provides Youth Opportunities Outcome 1 : Create Educational and Leadership Development Opportunities for Local Youth Develop a youth-targeted communication strategy to share Park-related programming and employment opportunities
Ensure paid internship and youth development opportunities with RPD , such as Workreation and Greenagers , are advertised onsite , online , and using a variety of methods to reach Park neighbors Establish a youth docent program , in which local BVHP youth are trained to lead tours that narrate local cultural histories , the natural elements , and orient visitors to the array of activities at the Park Expand RPD programs and partner with other programs to empower youth to participate in meetings of City agencies , housing associations , community organizations and other important forums Partner with neighborhood high schools to support enrollment in workforce training , technology , multimedia , financial literacy , and maker skills to be offered at the Park and nearby RPD facilities Outcome 2 : Invest in Youth Programming within BVHP Prioritize indoor and outdoor space at the Park for existing and emerging youth arts , environmental stewardship and STEM programming , including Art as Activism Connect youth with local artists for mentorship opportunities Facilitate youth programming that emphasizes storytelling and community history including Ohlone , Black , Asian , Latino , and Samoan cultures , as well as the legacy of historic boat building Create a program that ensures all BVHP youth are offered free swimming lessons to enable safe waterfront access and enjoyment
