WE SUPPORT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Project partners have invested in programming, creating educational and leadership opportunities for BVHP youth.
Bayview Safety Swim and Splash, a free learn-to-swim program for elementary school students in the 94124 ZIP code, operates since 2022 with the Y of San Francisco at MLK Pool. Adding a summer session in 2024, it served 376 youth— a 71 % increase from 2023— with more than160 kids meeting water safety goals.
Rocking the Boat launched rowing and boat building programs from the 900 Innes shop, including a year-round afterschool and summer youth program for 9th and 10th graders. Last fall, RTB also offered community rowing and workshop hours, serving nearly 100 people.
Additional youth programs include Mini Mogul and field trip programs, plus family-friendly community events. India Basin Shoreline Park’ s Community Innovation Lab also hosted youth financial planning with APRI, Hip Hop 4 Change workshops, and Us4Us’ Hoop for Peace basketball tournament. Project partners also supported community organizations like Nubian Sharks, From the Heart, Doo Da Activities, Community Youth Center of San Francisco, Feline Finesse Dance Company, and others in their youth efforts.
