April Edwards was born in Georgetown, KY on April 1st, 1989 to Marilyn Swan and Doug Edwards. Her father was a contractor and finish carpenter and her mother worked for The Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY.
From four years of age, April began showing signs of her musical prowess by following along with her mother who also played the piano. By the time April was 8, she began studying piano under various teachers as well as getting instruction in violin. When April was 12, she began guitar lessons with the great Johnny Hedger( infamous for classical guitar and renaissance lute).
April attended Providence Elementary / Middle School and then Henry Clay High School and excelled both in the musical programs and its’ theater departments; often featured as the primary soloist.
April graduated Henry Clay High School in 2007 and began seriously going to work at finding her own voice through her songwriting. She moved to Nashville and began making the rounds there; making new contacts and establishing herself as a new and viable force in the local music scene; often sitting in with writers’ showcases.
After two years though, having no solid‘ in’ in the Nashville scene, April returned once again to her hometown and regrouped. This time however, April would dig much deeper still and begin writing the majority of what would become the material for her debut album called NSA.
