IAM: Tell us, what is your name and where are you from? My name is Natalie Brooks and I’ m from Buffalo, NY through my music to cope and embrace liberty and truth. To make them remember to smile and never forget to love tell someone you love them:)
IAM: What are your songs about? My songs are about life and everything that comes with it love, relationships, family etc...( specific themes are mainly about love and keeping it alive) hope.
IAM: What is your favorite song and why? My favorite song on my single is take you to a place called love? well that track talks about love and her invitation for the other lover to come many have forgotten how to love and its purpose for it I’ m just sending out reminders;)
IAM: What image do you think your music conveys? Love and integrity
IAM: What are your long-term career goals? To have an establish publishing company, my perfume on the market, song placements, and my songs on billboard and with a distribution deal
IAM: What do you think your“ biggest break” or“ greatest opportunity” has been so far in your music career? Meeting my manager Ramon Gooden
IAM: Do you write your own songs? Yes i write my own songs, when I’ m writing i listen to the melody of the music or sometime i have a concept i wanna write about and start freestyling i come up with the chorus first another term is called hook this helps builds the general theme then you build your way with a verse to compliment your theme you might wanna give a scenario here or two discuss how you would handle the situation or your experience and give a solution to the problem and advice or even“ hope“ which in turn bring the listener into your world as the writer creating a visual image but only with words
IAM: Where do you find inspiration for your writing? Sometimes through personal experiences or even current events or with listening to other peers thats in the music industry today
IAM: Do you ever get writer’ s block? How do you deal with it? Yes from time to time, by taking a break and rethinking the concept and the message I’ m trying to deliver in that song
IAM: Who are your musical influences? My musical influences are those that were in tuned with life love and happiness true love things of significance and had meaning, like India Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Tupac, Lauryn Hill, Stevie wonder, bobby Valentino, faith Evans, SWV, and Mary J. Blige thats my heart!
IAM: How do you describe your music to people? I try to give hope to the community and help people
IAM: How would you define the word“ success”? When you have achieved and is maintaining the goals you have set out for yourself
IAM: What live performance experience have you had? Singing at the Apollo was a great experience meeting all those people over the world and opening up for blues singer bobby rush at the pepsi cola stadium here in Buffalo, NY
IAM: How do you rate your live performance ability? A 7 i use props and my experience with theatre into my shows but i wanna dance more which I’ m practicing on my appearance as well theres always room for practice.
IAM: Art and music has an impact on both young and old. So what advice do you have for the youth of today? Know thyself get to know who you are as an individual and lead by example be different be you. You don’ t have to look like everyone in the industry start your on trend. Love yourself and love others
IAM: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there? My next show is in Cleveland, Ohio you should be to see me in action challenge all that i have said to you today in this write up towards i can show you better than i have told you I PUTS ON A SHOW YA HEARD! LOL
