Villa Dom grew up in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn , New York . He used rap as a form of expression and started writing music at the age of 14 . He has had the opportunity to write and work with some of the most respected artists in the music industry .
Early in his career Dom took advantage of being an independent artist and started his own publishing company called , “ Lil Villa Publishing ”. In 1996 he began to further his music career and joined Brooklyn ’ s super group “ Ghetto Mentality ” and became part of their Indie label – ENGR Records . His passion and determination
M following the birth of his first son Jai , motivated him to go from an artist to the president of ENGR records and transformed the record label into a multi-media entertainment company .
Dom is working with the author , Arlene Braithwaite to encourage reading nationwide with the “ Music Meets Literature Project ” in which artists create music inspired by her novels . He is also starring in Arlene ’ s new movie “ Darkest Before Dawn ”, which was inspired by the book and is due to be released in the summer of 2013 .
Currently Dom is getting ready to release his debut album entitled “ Tell the World I ’ m Coming ” and has just released his latest single entitled “ Smell the Roses ”.
