The Del has a long history of creating
community and giving back since
its very beginnings when the storied
hotel was built in 1888, on the rugged
undeveloped land of Coronado. A town
blossomed around the resort, which has
proudly remained an epicenter of social,
communal and charitable activities for the
past 131 years. We’ve hosted hundreds
of galas, fundraising concerts and
special events to support nonprofits and
remarkable organizations, as charitable
giving is the heart and soul of this iconic
oceanfront hotel. heritage as Some Like It Hot starring
Marilyn Monroe was filmed right here at
The Del.
The experience of skating at The Del goes
beyond a joyful seaside spin across the
ice, as 2019 marks the 15th anniversary
of Hotel del Coronado’s Skating by
the Sea with a portion of the proceeds
benefiting Make-A-Wish San Diego. In
addition, The Del welcomes “Wish Kids”
and their families year-round to enjoy their
wish experiences at the seaside resort,
along with hosting the Make-A-Wish
Family Skate Night —a private event with
complimentary ice skating, s’mores by the
beach and fun finger foods. We hope you also feel inspired to take a
moment and help those in need during
the holiday season, whether you volunteer
your time, make a donation or support a
worthy cause. And while we like to spread
some good cheer during this time of year,
the spirit of giving back carries on beyond
the holidays here at The Del.
The Del has also partnered with
ONEHOPE, a philanthropic Napa winery
that has distributed more than $4.8 million
to a myriad of important causes since its
launch in 2007. The Del serves its own
private label of ONEHOPE sparkling brut
and with every bottle sold, part of the
proceeds goes to The Del’s designated
charities including ovarian cancer
research and school gardens.
With the Naval Air Station North Island as
our neighbor on Coronado since 1917,
The Del has a strong and supportive
relationship with our military. For more
than 100 years, the hotel has hosted
the Military Ball, and every summer we
host a Father’s Day Concert & BBQ with
Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan
Band on Del Beach to raise funds for
Sinise’s exceptional organization that
supports veterans, first responders and
their families. We have also created a
private label beer with our good friends
and neighbors at Coronado Brewing Co.
