InDELible Magazine WINTER 2019 | Page 2

Dear Friends, On behalf of my team, welcome to Hotel del Coronado on beautiful Coronado Island. It is my honor and highest priority to see to your comfort during your stay. You are here at an exciting time. The height of visitor season has come and gone, but mild weather and spellbinding sunsets remain. The winter comes with a series of inDELible events and celebrations that have become traditions for friends and families. This October, we invite you to celebrate Halloween on Saturday, October 27. Wear your best costume and join us for the annual, adults-only, Hallo-wine & Spirits ® Party full of spooky decor, food, wine, and dancing. This year’s theme is Night of 1,000 Clowns. We love to celebrate the holiday season in a grand way, and this year is no exception. Holiday dining is a legendary experience at The Del. Our culinary masters create unforgettable epicurean experiences full of traditional favorites and creative interpretations plated to perfection for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Our Sunday Brunch is bigger and better than ever with new and eclectic additions to the menu. All through December, we welcome you to our very own Southern Californian White Christmas celebration. We hope you take the time to visit our two-story holiday tree, flocked in snowflakes and adorned in glass ornaments with silver accents. As the site of the first outdoor electric Christmas tree in 1904, The Del continues to delight guests of all ages with holiday cheer from the unveiling of the lobby tree to the thousands of twinkling lights on the Victorian Building. Skating by the Sea returns for its 15th season with an expanded menu of food 2 and seasonal libations that you can enjoy fireside at Frostbite; A Place to Chill. Cozy up around your own private fire-pit and watch the skaters glide across the rink with views of the Pacific. Opened in 1888 and destined to be “the talk of the Western world,” The Del continues to evolve in exciting ways. This summer we opened our beautiful new seafood restaurant, ~ to critical acclaim from guests, residents and Serea, celebrities. We also restored one of the historic buildings on our property that once served as the hotel’s laundry. Its beautiful original brick façade is now exposed and it looks much like it did near the turn of the century. A third improvement is the ocean-view terrace. In addition, we completed the renovation of our Vista Walk, for weddings and events for up to 900 people. Its elevated vantage point makes it one of the greatest places to catch a sunset. These renewed areas comprise the first milestone in a masterplan renovation which, when done in late 2021, will bring more guest experiences and places to explore. With a world-class spa, exceptional seaside dining, and Beach Village, our enclave of luxury beach cottages, The Del is poised for another 131 years of historic excellence. I am proud to be a part of its legacy and the new vision for this iconic resort. As a valued guest, we thank you for choosing The Del and becoming a part of our history. We look forward to welcoming you again and again. Warmest wishes, Harold Rapoza, Jr. General Manager 3
