Tales of the supernatural and paranormal
activity have long filled the lore of this
historic 131-year-old hotel from spine-
tingling breezes and flickering lights to
ghostly apparitions appearing at night. On
Thanksgiving Day in 1892, a mysterious
stranger checked in under an alias and
never checked out. The forlorn woman
spent five days waiting in despair, as her
love failed to arrive. While her tragic life
ended with a gunshot, it captured the
nation’s attention. Who was this “Beautiful
Stranger” and what drove her to take
her own life that cold, dark winter night?
Though eventually identified as 24-year-
old Kate Morgan, her story remains
shrouded in mystery. Be on the lookout as
endless accounts of our resident ghost’s
shenanigans have been shared by guests
and staff.
TAKE A HAUNTED HAPPENINGS TOUR
AT NIGHT and learn more about the
mystery of Kate Morgan and the other
mischievous spirits that haunt the hotel.

Maybe it’s sipping made-to-order
mimosas under the crown-shaped
chandeliers and vaulted sugar pine
ceilings or, perhaps, it’s the aroma of
pepper-crusted prime rib or the sight of
massive King crab legs chilling on ice. Or
is it the Willy Wonka-esque dessert station
of sweets and eye-popping candy treats?
Whatever you fancy, we think you’ll agree
that there’s culinary magic here in the
Crown Room each Sunday.
Start at the raw bar for fresh oysters
from around the globe or try our medley
of pokes at the seafood station where
you’ll also find Tiger shrimp cocktail,
fresh Hamachi and coconut Crudo. Our
new ramen station boasts freshly made
broth—both vegetarian and pork—and
plump noodles with tantalizing sides like
slow-braised pork belly, soy eggs, pickled
veggies and local seaweed. There’s
berry-studded brown sugar waffles,
housemade cinnamon rolls, cheese and
charcuterie, garden fresh salads, juicy
meats with savory sides and assorted
dim sum. For the sweet tooth, a gelato
bar awaits with endless toppings and
cones, along with sugary displays of mini
cupcakes, French macarons, cobblers,
cookies and colorful cotton candy for kids,
big and small.
