Sobha Kavanakudiyil is a faculty member in The Graduate Program in Educational Theatre at
The City College of New York. She earned her B.A. in Communications from Fordham University
and her M.A. in Educational Theatre from NYU. She is currently on the board of AATE as Director of
National Programming. In addition, she is Co-Chair of the New York City Arts in Education
Roundtable. in 2017 -2018 she was accepted into the Fulbright Specialist Program and traveled to
Seoul, Korea to teach as well as to Puebla, Mexico. She has also been an Arts Education
Consultant for many places in and around New York City including: The Apollo Theater, The
Center for Arts Education, Urban Arts Partnership, and The New Victory Theater.
Mitch Mattson is the Co-Chair of the AATE’s 2018 National Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota
and is an incoming AATE Board of Director. He currently serves as Associate Director of Education
at Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City, where he has worked since 2013. Prior to
joining Roundabout, he worked for Arena Stage in Washington, DC. Mitch has been long involved
with AATE, previously elected to the board in 2013 and having also served as a co-chair of the DC
Theater In Our Schools Conference. He holds a Master’s Degree in Theatre History and Theory
from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre
from Millikin University Scholar.
