Nobody here talks about depression. Because it falls on our list of ‘social unmentionables’. You can’t bring that up in front of others, can’t let people know you’re affected, and worse you don’t need any treatment for it. Of course, you can’t look at a depressed person with normal glances and hey, you do have to talk about how your neighbor’s daughter went to a ‘dimaag ka doctor’ last week.

As long as we identify ourselves with this outlook, their cries for help will be getting lost in our lanes of indifference. How will we ever create a society where physical and mental illnesses are presented and accepted in the same way. And here we are, yet again, letting our ideal ‘societal images’ win over empathy and humanity. Till we have these mind blocks about depression and other mental conditions, our so called ‘social progress’ will only be a myth. So it’s high time. It’s high time to break the barriers and evolve towards a better tomorrow. In conclusion, all I’d say is its okay to go to a therapist. It’s okay to talk about your problems. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to need help. You’re not crazy. You’re just human.
