5. PEANUTS: THE WORKHORSE Nothing fancy. Peanuts just get the job done. They can sit untouched for hours and still be ready when hunger strikes.
6. JELLY TOTS: THE ATTACKING MIDFIELDER Sweet, colourful, and slightly chaotic, Jelly Tots bring creativity to the squad. The only problem is that they tend to stick together like teammates protecting a one-goal lead.
7. SAMOOSAS: THE BENNI For longer journeys, samoosas provide the physical presence up front. They are filling, messy, and best consumed before somebody asks why the car suddenly smells like a Saturday morning walk through a flea market.
8. CHEESE CURLS: THE UTILITY PLAYER Cheese Curls may not be the star of the squad, but they are always ready to fill a gap when a snack shortage appears.
9. APPLES: THE DISCIPLINED FULLBACK Every squad needs someone sensible. Apples perform this role perfectly, usually sitting untouched while everyone else demolishes the crisps.
10. SWEETS: JERSEY NUMBER 10 They provide the creativity and a quick burst of energy, particularly around the halfway mark when passengers start asking how much longer the journey will take.
11. SANDWICHES: THE GOALKEEPER Also known as Mr Reliable, sandwiches are there when the hunger becomes serious. They may not always be glamorous, but when the rest of the squad has disappeared, they save the day.
By the time the car reaches the destination, the squad will be battered, crumbs will be everywhere, and somebody will still claim to be hungry. IB
DON’ T FORGET THE COACH The cooler box keeps the perishables cold and the squad organised, mostly, and makes sure everyone is ready for match day.
