THE DAY THE KING DIED On 16 August 1977, the music world was stunned by the death of Elvis Presley at the age of 42 after suffering heart failure. His fiancée, Ginger Alden, found him unresponsive at his Graceland home in Memphis, Tennessee.
Presley changed music forever, beginning with his first RCA single, Heartbreak Hotel, which became his first US No 1 hit in 1956. Beyond the charts, he starred in 31 feature films and became one of the most influential performers of the 20th century.
His cultural impact remains unmatched. In 1993, he became the first rock‘ n’ roll artist to be honoured with a commemorative US Postal Service stamp, cementing a legacy that continues to inspire generations of musicians worldwide.

GREEN DAY RULE KERRANG! On 25 August 2005, Green Day dominated the 12th annual Kerrang! Awards, taking home the coveted titles of Best Band on the Planet and Best Live Band. Funeral for a Friend won Best British Band, while My Chemical Romance claimed Best Album for Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Best Video for Helena. Iron Maiden were inducted into the Kerrang!
