CELEB Q & A
it’ s what allows you to continue looking after everyone else.
WHAT LESSONS HAVE SHAPED YOU INTO THE WOMAN YOU ARE TODAY, AND WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN WOMEN? Life has taught me that strength isn’ t about pretending everything is OK. Real strength comes from being willing to keep moving forward. Life won’ t always unfold the way we expect it to, and sometimes the path we thought we were on changes completely. But don’ t let one season, decision, or setback define you.

BEACH OR BUSH? Bush getaway SUNRISE OR SUNSET? Sunset
YOUR FAVOURITE LOCAL RESTAURANT? Magica Roma or Three Wise Monkeys
WHAT’ S ON YOUR PLAYLIST? My kids run the music in my car!
ONE PLACE ON YOUR TRAVEL BUCKET LIST? Anywhere I can experience the Northern Lights.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE WAYS TO SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS? I’ m happiest around a dinner table, at the beach, playing board games, watching my kids play sport, or having people over at home. I love simple moments, the ones that become treasured memories.
WRITING A BOOK OFTEN REQUIRES VULNERABILITY. WAS THERE A CHAPTER OR MOMENT THAT WAS PARTICULARLY DIFFICULT TO PUT INTO WORDS? The hardest parts were the ones where I had to be completely honest about my fears and failures. It’ s easier to tell other people’ s stories. But if I wanted Falling Forward to genuinely help people, I had to write honestly.
HAS THIS NEW CHAPTER CHANGED THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT FRIENDSHIP, LOVE, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FINDING COMPANIONSHIP AGAIN? More than anything, it’ s deepened my appreciation for the people who consistently show up. Healthy relationships are built on honesty, kindness, and mutual respect. Right now, my focus is on becoming the best version of myself.
WHAT ACHIEVEMENT ON YOUR JOURNEY ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? Without question, my children. Professionally, I’ m proud of the work we’ re building through Falling Forward and its foundation.
AS YOU LOOK AHEAD, WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT? I’ m excited about the Falling Forward Foundation and growing the work we’ re doing through The Impilo Project. My hope is to build something that outlives me, a platform connecting people, organisations, and communities to better healthcare, opportunity, and hope. IB
