Winter is here, which means layering season is upon us – and every layered look needs the right pair of boots to complete it. This season, modern silhouettes are making their mark. Here are some key boot styles to consider for Winter 2026.
POINTED-TOE BOOTIES These boots come in ankle or high-boot style, often with a subtle, minimal design. They are rarely overly dramatic, which is a part of their appeal. They are my favourite style, especially the black and brown ones that Steve Madden seems to restock, winter after winter.
They add class, and the silhouette is clean and modern. The elegant, slip-on style works well for refined casual or smart-casual wear. Pair it with pants, a skirt, or a dress – these boots go with almost anything.
PATENT-FINISH HEEL BOOTS Patent-finish boots can come with a block heel or a slim pencil heel, depending on your preference.
Comfort is key. Pair them with a midi dress and warm pantyhose for a polished winter look. These boots can lift many different winter outfits, whether you are heading to the office, going on a date night, or meeting friends for a little winter get-together.
SUEDE BOOTS Suede boots remain a standout trend for Winter 2026, offering a luxurious, textured alternative to classic leather. They are a seasonal staple, particularly in black and earthy tones like chocolate brown and tan. I love that they are easier to clean and maintain than many people think – it takes just a little suede spray and care to get them looking new again.
SLEEK KNEE-HIGH BOOTS Knee-high boots work for almost any occasion, depending on how you style them. They remain a key winter statement, creating a flattering, close fit while still offering comfort. You can dress them up or down, and once you have a good pair in your wardrobe, they can last for years. They never really go out of style.
