“ THE GREATEST RIVALRY SERIES PROMISES TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL. BOTH TEAMS WILL BE PLAYING TO WIN.” – PIETER-STEPH DU TOIT
MORE THAN JUST MUSCLE
For years, the Springboks have been defined by their physical dominance, the so-called bomb squad, and relentless forward pressure. But under Erasmus and his coaching team, there’ s been a clear tactical evolution. Their adaptability was evident in a dominant 2025 campaign, where the Boks secured major wins against top-tier nations while expanding their attacking identity. There is more variation now, more width, and more willingness to trust skill and movement, alongside the old appetite for confrontation.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
The July internationals will develop the intensity and are critical for building combinations, while the European leg later in the year will show how well the Boks adapt away from home. The four- Test series against the All Blacks will ask some hard questions of the world champions – harder than any single encounter.
Erasmus is likely to rotate heavily, mixing seasoned campaigners with emerging talent. Core leaders will anchor the side, but the spotlight will fall on the next generation to prove they belong at this level. The goal is not just to win – it’ s to build and refine. IB
