ADVERTORIAL

Once upon a time …

IT STARTED WITH A LOVE LETTER AND GREW INTO A LIVING LEGACY WHERE NATURE, HERITAGE, AND HOSPITALITY FLOURISH ACROSS GENERATIONS.

When Bill Carte proposed to his beloved Ruth Blyth, he did so in a letter:“ Ruth, my darling, I plead as never before – put your trust in me, marry me and be my mate in building a home and farm second-to-none in South Africa.”

In October 1941, the newlyweds arrived in the majestic Drakensberg mountains and settled at the Cavern Guest Farm, a humble abode with no electricity nor running water, but with vast potential. Their vision was, as Bill wrote,“ to create beauty, to make the land more fertile, to make a living, and to leave the world a better place.” And so began the creation of a dream, which still blossoms.
Four generations later, their legacy continues: Three unique businesses are owned and managed by their five granddaughters. These thriving establishments are all different, yet each one provides rich experiences in extraordinary wilderness.
