With four decades of experience in emergency medicine and a track record of building institutions that now anchor the nation’ s healthcare revival, Dr Vivek Solanki is at the forefront of a quiet revolution.
For Dr Solanki, the rise of medical tourism in Zimbabwe is not a marketing trend, but the natural outcome of evolving patient expectations and longterm investment in world-class healthcare infrastructure.
“ I have been practising medicine, beginning with emergency care and later expanding into regenerative medicine and aesthetics, for the past four decades,” he says.
SHIFT IN PATIENT BEHAVIOUR
Over that time, he has witnessed a clear shift in patient behaviour, from reliance on public health systems to a growing preference for private healthcare providers.
“ Patients today expect faster access to care. They want early diagnosis, prompt treatment, and minimal waiting times,” he explains.“ Long waiting lists are no longer acceptable to many, particularly international patients.”
