WINE COUTURE
Couture
IN EVERY SIP

RENOWNED FASHION DESIGNER GERT-JOHAN COETZEE AND ACCLAIMED BOUTIQUE WINEMAKER ALBERT AHRENS MERGED THEIR DISTINCT WORLDS, GIVING RISE TO A COLLABORATION ROOTED IN LEGACY & LUXURY.
When two creative minds connected in 2021, something extraordinary took shape.
Now, years later, Gert-Johan Coetzee unveils his new line: Wine Couture – the moment wine met fashion. Born from a desire to extend the language of couture beyond the runway and into a fully sensorial experience, Wine Couture isn’ t about expansion for expansion’ s sake, but translating artistry, intention and craft into every sip.
WHERE THE RUNWAY MET THE VINEYARD
The project reflects a slower, more intentional approach to luxury, where meaning and memory are valued above volume.“ The intention was to translate design values into another medium, allowing luxury to be experienced through taste, emotion, and memory,” says Coetzee.
The name Wine Couture reflects the philosophy behind the collection. Like couture, the wines are created in limited quantities with meticulous attention to detail.“ Each release is rare, intentional, and never repeated, making the name a natural extension of the process and the values behind it.”
Albert Ahrens’ philosophy of minimal intervention and respect for natural expression aligned seamlessly with the Gert-Johan Coetzee brand, making the partnership both intuitive and authentic.
“ Both wine and fashion are expressions of time, place, and identity. They reflect origin, intention, and emotion. When approached with care, both disciplines speak the same language of balance, restraint, and lasting impact rather than trend or excess,” says Coetzee.
LUXURY, BOTTLED
The inaugural Wine Couture Collection consists of three wines inspired by African light and landscape. Ivory Sands is a refined white, Blush at Dusk is a luminous rosé, and Crimson Ridge is a structured red. Only 100 collector’ s boxes were produced, each containing six bottles, making the release highly limited and collectible.“ The story is one of intentional growth and legacy. It is about expanding thoughtfully, with each extension rooted in meaning, identity, and emotional craftsmanship. The focus is not on doing more, but on doing things with greater depth and purpose.”
The launch of the Wine Couture Collection will take place in March 2026 at SINN in Johannesburg, a space chosen for its immersive and atmospheric quality. The experience will include curated tastings designed to complement the narrative of the collection, with future moments explored selectively and intentionally. IB
