DESTINATION
After the adrenaline, we headed back towards the hotel. Before supper, I tagged along to a nearby pub for a German beverage. Yes, a beer. When in Swakopmund, apparently.
Then came supper at Platform One restaurant, and this is where things got serious.
BRING ON THE BUFFET Listen, South Africans understand buffets. We don’ t simply“ have dinner”. We investigate. We do one lap. We assess the options. Then we return with a plate that suggests we haven’ t eaten since breakfast.
Platform One delivered exactly what was needed after a full day of adventure. There was variety, there was plenty, the wine was flowing, and the company was even better.“ I’ ll just have a little something” was never going to happen.
By the end of the evening, I was full, tired, and very happy.
That, for me, summed up the eventful 48 hours. Thanks to Legacy Hotels, I experienced a slice of Swakopmund that delivered heritage, adventure, good food, and plenty of laughs, all from a comfortable base at the Swakopmund Hotel.
Was 48 hours enough? Absolutely not.
Did I make the most of it? I’ d like to think so.
Would I go back? Swakopmund, you owe me absolutely nothing. I’ ll be back anyway.
And before you think that’ s where my Namibian adventure ends, haibo, not quite. Part Two is coming, and trust me, the jol wasn’ t over yet. IB
