LUCKY DUBE’ S TRAGIC FINAL MOMENTS On 18 October 2007, South African reggae icon Lucky Dube was fatally shot during a car hijacking in Johannesburg. The singer had been dropping off his teenage son and daughter when the attack took place. Dube, one of South Africa’ s most celebrated reggae artists, was 43 years old. His death sent shockwaves through the country and the international music community.

COOLIO TAKES OVER THE UK CHARTS On 28 October 1995, Coolio featuring L. V. debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart with the iconic Gangsta’ s Paradise. The track became a defining hip-hop anthem of the 1990s and featured prominently in the 1995 film Dangerous Minds, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. Gangsta’ s Paradise famously sampled the chorus of Stevie Wonder’ s 1976 song Pastime Paradise, giving the track its haunting and instantly recognisable sound.
