2. SPOT CAPE VULTURES OVER MSIKABA GORGE
Msikaba Gorge is rugged, dramatic and teeming with birdlife – especially the endangered Cape vultures that soar effortlessly above the cliffs. Trails lead you through rolling grasslands to jaw-dropping lookouts over the deep gorge and its forest-lined amphitheatres. It’ s peaceful, photogenic and perfect for nature lovers who like their landscapes big and untouched.
3. MARVEL AT WATERFALL BLUFF’ S OCEAN PLUNGE
A highlight of the Wild Coast near Lusikisiki, Waterfall Bluff is one of fewer than twenty waterfalls on Earth that plunge directly into the sea. The water drops almost 100m off a sheer cliff into the Indian Ocean – a meeting of land and ocean so dramatic it feels almost impossible. It’ s adventurous, awe-inspiring and well worth the trek.
4. SOAK UP THE POWER OF MAGWA FALLS
Just inland from Lusikisiki, Magwa Falls is a thundering beauty that plunges 144m into a narrow, forested canyon. The route there winds
through lush tea plantations, ending at an easy-to-reach viewpoint perched right on the canyon edge. It’ s often compared to a mini- Victoria Falls( minus the crowds) making it a must-stop for waterfall chasers.
5. SLOW DOWN IN PORT ST JOHNS & DRIFT ALONG THE UMNGAZI RIVER
With its relaxed energy, dramatic cliffs and rich Pondo culture, Port St Johns has long been a favourite among travellers who love places with character. Wander colourful markets, grab a beach day on Second Beach or hike to one of the panoramic lookouts above the river mouth.

6. EXPERIENCE THE ICONIC SARDINE RUN

Every winter, millions of sardines migrate up the coastline, attracting dolphins, sharks, whales, seals and diving gannets in a spectacular natural feeding frenzy. Most activity centres around Port St Johns, where you can join a boat tour or, if you’ re feeling brave, free-dive alongside shimmering bait balls.
