MEET THE SOUTH AFRICAN DESIGNERS BLENDING CULTURE, SUSTAINABILITY, AND BOLD CREATIVITY AS THEY MAKE THEIR MARK ON THE GLOBAL FASHION STAGE IN 2026.

Connade

Led by the artistic Shelley Mokoena, Connade has become a prominent name in African fashion since its founding in 2019. Her designs fuse African futurism with craftsmanship and storytelling, creating garments that are both expressive and deeply connected to African identity. Mokoena recently showcased her Spring / Summer 2026 collection at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, confidently elevating African fashion onto the global stage.

NALA Privé

Under the creative direction of Loice Dube, NALA Privé – part of House of Nala – has perfected the art of understated luxury. Its recently launched Summer Signature Collection, Be Fruitful and Multiply, draws inspiration from the Cape Winelands. Reflecting the brand’ s philosophy of slow fashion and sustainability, the collection captures the harmony between nature and design. In 2026, NALA Privé is poised to expand its global influence while remaining firmly rooted in its African heritage.

Yarnh

Founded by menswear designer and art director Josh Downes, Yarnh is at the forefront of sustainable fashion. Named Best Sustainable Brand at the 2025 South African Fashion Awards, the label merges traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalism. With new collaborations, stockists, and capsule collections coming up, 2026 will be an exciting year for Yarnh as it expands its presence both locally and internationally.

Lukhanyo Mdingi

Lukhanyo Mdingi continues to influence global perceptions of African fashion. A recipient of the LVMH Karl Lagerfeld Prize( 2021) and the Amiri Prize( 2023), his designs are celebrated for their refined aesthetic and ethical production methods. Collaborating closely with textile communities in Burkina Faso and Southern Africa, Mdingi creates collections that represent purpose and cooperation. His expanding online presence and increasing network of wholesale partners point towards even greater global reach in 2026.

House of Fabrosanz

The House of Fabrosanz, founded by Sandi Mazibuko, transforms Zulu cultural heritage into contemporary fashion. Renowned for bold prints and modern silhouettes, the brand seamlessly combines tradition and trend with distinctive flair. Partnering with Miss South Africa 2025 and opening the AFI Fashion Show in Stellenbosch has secured its prominence. Looking ahead, the House of Fabrosanz plans to expand into the Western Cape, making its designs more accessible through boutique and resort stockists.

Uniform

Designer Luke Radloff brings extensive experience in retail, design, and creative direction to his label, Uniform. His work balances structure and subtlety, creating garments that feel both timeless and contemporary. Recently showcased at the Confections X Collections event at Nelson Mount, Radloff’ s designs gained wide attention when former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi wore one of his pieces. As his recognition grows, his journey in fashion appears brighter than ever. IB
