HAIR TEXTURES
BY PAUL FOX, MASTER STYLIST AND OWNER, PAUL JAMES HAIRDRESSING
NATURAL TEXTURE, AND LIVED-IN ELEGANCE DEFINE THE LOOK, WITH HAIR HEALTH AND PROTECTION GUIDING EVERY STYLE CHOICE.
The season embraces hair with movement and ease. Flowing curls and waves sit alongside undone updos and sculpted protective styles, each designed to move naturally and wear comfortably.
SOFT CURLS AND FLOWING WAVES
Romantic texture begins with softness. Loose curls, beachy waves, and gently defined natural patterns create volume without stiffness, leaving hair light and touchable. Face-framing layers and wispy pieces add movement, keeping styles relaxed rather than overworked. The focus remains on minimal heat and high hydration. The aim is to support natural texture and shape, allowing hair to move as it wants rather than forcing structure.
EFFORTLESS UPDOS WITH EASE
Updos lean towards softness. Low buns, loose knots, half-up styles, and relaxed ponytails lead the shift. These styles keep hair off the face and neck while maintaining a romantic shape suited to day or evening wear. Texture defines the finish. Slightly undone styling, gentle twists or braids, and loose tendrils strike a balance between form and ease. Headbands, claw clips, and silk ribbons add polish without weight.
PROTECTIVE SILHOUETTES WITH STYLE
Protective styling now sits at the centre of design, not just function. Braids, twists, faux locs, and cornrows create strong silhouettes while protecting the ends and limiting daily manipulation. Knotless braids and loose twists stand out for their comfort and flexibility. They offer scalp comfort and adapt to bobs, buns, and high ponytails. A good protective style feels light, never tight, and lets the scalp breathe.
CARE IS THE FOUNDATION
Romantic hair holds its shape only when care comes first. Hydration, low tension, and gentle cleansing lay the foundation. Lightweight oils, leave-in treatments, and satin or silk at night help protect texture and prolong the style. Whether worn loose or pulled back, healthy hair always looks its best.
This season, romance lives in movement, softness and intention, styles that feel as good as they look, and silhouettes that protect while enchanting. IB
