On 17 February 1960, Elvis Presley received his first Gold record for an album, just weeks before leaving the US Army. The award recognised his self-titled second studio album, released in October 1956. The record included three Little
Richard covers, such as“ Long Tall Sally” and“ Rip It Up”, along with new country ballads and hits like“ Love Me” and“ Paralyzed.” The album topped the Billboard chart for four weeks, making Presley the first artist to achieve two
No. 1 albums in the same year.
