SIGNING OFF WITH GRATITUDE

As I close this chapter with my final edition of InBound SA, I’ m reminded that real progress is rarely dramatic. It is built in disciplined rooms, through considered decisions, and by leaders who understand that consistency outperforms noise.

Attending the Investing in African Mining Indaba this year reinforced that message. Across panel discussions, the conversation was less about hype and more about execution. In healthcare, Linky Olivier, Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Accountants( SA) Medical Aid Fund( CAMAF), discusses the delicate balance between financial stewardship and meaningful member value.
At a national level, Cyril Ramaphosa’ s 2026 State of the Nation Address reflected cautious optimism around economic growth, energy reform and youth employment. Regulatory certainty and delivery discipline will determine whether these commitments translate into measurable outcomes – particularly as electric vehicle infrastructure expands against the reality of grid capacity constraints.
Further in mining, energy efficiency has become a strategic lever. Operational excellence, sustainability and profitability are now inseparable. Environmental discipline is proving to be commercially intelligent. The organisations that will endure are those that plan with intention and measure rigorously. Stability, when consciously cultivated, becomes both protection and propulsion.
It has been a privilege to contribute to these conversations through InBound SA. Thank you for engaging with the ideas shaping our industries and our country.
