LIBRARY HOLIDAY BAKE SALE
Fri., 12/13, to Sat., 12/14
The Friends of the Library are holding
their impressive annual Holiday Bake Sale
just in time for your holiday celebrations,
on Friday, 12/13, and on Saturday, 12/14,
during regular library hours. Buy a few
cookies or create a custom tray! Pam
and Donna will also be there with their
delightful knitted gifts: hats, scarves, toys,
towels, scrubbies and more.
COOKIE EXCHANGE AND HOLIDAY
SINGALONG
Friday, 12/20, 7 to 9 p.m.
The Cookie Exchange is a yearly holiday
event with games, refreshments and
COOKIES, of course; this year, it will also
have music. It will begin with a holiday
singalong – all voices welcome – led by some
great local talent. The cookie exchange will
take place at the intermission for all those
wishing to join in: bring 3 dozen homemade
cookies, take 3 dozen home. Voila! Your
very own cookie assortment! Please bring an
empty container to take home your carefully
selected cookies. You can come for the
cookies without caroling, or sing without
exchanging cookies.
CHILDREN’S AND TEEN
PROGRAMS
Preschool classes – for 3 to 5-year-olds –
Mondays at 11 a.m.: stories, games and fun
activities. New participants are welcome to
join any time.
Board Games – school-age children –
Mondays beginning at 4 p.m.: board games
with your friends and Miss Bonnie. First
Monday of each month will feature BINGO.
Saturday Fun – school-age children
– Saturdays at 1 p.m.: games, crafts and
friends! (See the schedule in the library or
on the library website.)
Anime Club – tweens and teens – 2nd
and 4th Tuesdays, 4 to 5 p.m.: friends, food,
and anime!
ADULT PROGRAMS
ADULT BOOK LUNCH
Sunday, Jan. 19, 1 p.m.
You and your hungry book-loving friends
are invited to our annual Soup and Book
Lunch. Bring your library cards, so that you
can borrow some of the great books we talk
about. There will be a registration sheet at the
desk in January.
KNIT AND CROCHET CLUB
2nd Thursday of the month, 6 to 8 p.m.
Want to learn to knit or crochet? Or maybe
you would enjoy knitting or crocheting with
other friendly needle workers. All are welcome
to join our monthly night of knitting and
crocheting for all levels of experience.
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUPS
Join one of our five book discussion groups!
New members may join at any time, without
any commitment on your part. Lists for all
four clubs and extra books are available at the
desk. Check our website for all the details.
1st Thursdays, 7 p.m. – Evening Eclectic
group; meets upstairs in library
2nd Sundays, 1 p.m. – Books and Brunch
(combining books and food); meets in library
2nd Thursdays, 3 p.m. – Afternoon

AUCTION: SAVE THE DATE!

Love to read? Swissvale Library’s own
reader rewards program is currently in
progress! Readers of all ages are turning
in their reading lists, looking forward to
that crazy, festive Sunday in May when
the library will hold its incredible auction.
Readers will bid on over 100 items, paying
with our unique currency, “Book Bucks.”
Pick up a reading form (available at the
desk) and start earning big Book Bucks!
LITTLE LISTENERS
Too young for Book Bucks? Read to your
young ones, and when they turn in lists of
15 books they listened to, they will choose
a prize from the basket! You will both have
fun, and your little listener will learn and
gain listening and reading skills at the same
time.
JIGSAW PUZZLE SOLVERS
Exchange your old jigsaw puzzles for new
ones. Check the bin inside the front door
if you wish to donate puzzles or take home
new ones.
