Announcing THE WOODLAND HILLS FOUNDATION’S CHOCOLATE AND DIAMONDS AFFAIR T he Woodland Hills Foundation is proud to announce our Eleventh Annual Chocolate & Diamonds Affair, to be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Edgewood Country Club. The evening, which welcomed over 200 attendees in 2019, will include a formal dinner, an exciting silent auction, a wine-pull, live music and dancing courtesy of local band Teresa Hawthorne & Legacee, and a chance to win the evening’s pièces de résistance, a diamond provided by William Penn Jewelers. The mission of the Woodland Hills Foundation is to support and enrich the School District by strengthening, expanding and creating new experiences and innovations within our schools. This is achieved through providing student scholarships; hosting community events; volunteerism; and Mini Grants and our Dream Book (providing modest cash awards or awards for supplies and other innovations to teachers, in order to enhance the learning experience). Each year, we raise much-needed funds during the Chocolate and Diamonds Affair to provide support for these programs and services. Your support means that we can continue to serve the district’s teachers, school administrators and students. We are currently in the process of seeking sponsors and silent auction donors for this important event. Donors will be listed on the Woodland Hills Foundation website, will be included in donor- specific posts on our Facebook page, included in our mail blasts and listed in an upcoming issue of In Woodland Hills Magazine. For a full list of benefits, or to purchase tickets or make a donation, please visit www.WoodlandHillsFoundation.com. The Chocolate & Diamonds Affair is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our past successes and we hope that we can count on your support as we raise a glass to the future. Thank you in advance for your support of the Woodland Hills Foundation and our mission. 38 WOODLAND HILLS The Woodland Hills Foundation is pleased to announce that in January, our 2020 Scholarship Applications will be available in the High School Guidance Office and on our website, www. WoodlandHillsFoundation. com. Winners will be selected based on academic success, thoughtful and sincere answers on our applications and a demonstrated commitment to Ava Karas, winner of the 2019 continuing education. Julia Ann McCool Scholarship We recognize the difficulties today’s students face in finding financial assistance while entering the career paths of their choice. The Woodland Hills Foundation is proud to help deserving students of the Woodland Hills School District achieve their full potential. Over 65 scholarships totaling $100,000, have been awarded for secondary education including technical, vocational, and baccalaureate degrees. Ana Karas, winner of the 2019 Julia Ann McCool Scholarship wrote, “I just wanted to thank you for making my scholarship possible. I declined two full tuition scholarship offers [so that I could] go to the school of my dreams, and desperately needed some outside scholarships to make the cost more affordable. The generous Julia Anne McCool scholarship made that possible and gave me confidence in my decision.” If you are currently enrolled in your senior year at Woodland Hills High School for the 2019-2020 year (or know someone who is), visit our website, www.woodlandhillsfoundation.com, to learn more about applying for a scholarship.
