MVI’ S WORKFORCE TEAM HONORS EMPLOYERS DURING APPRECIATION BREAKFAST
Attorney Edward Van Stevenson, Jr. delivered the keynote presentation on July 21 during the Mon Valley Initiative’ s 15th annual Employer Appreciation Breakfast.
Stevenson, who is about to mark his 46th year practicing law, currently serves as managing attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services Association.
The Employer Appreciation Banquet is hosted by MVI’ s Workforce and Business Development Team, which provides career and job counseling services for people who are unemployed and under-employed, helps to match employers with people who are looking for work, and advocates for the unemployed, including ex-offenders.
Those honored at the July 21 event included Kweilin Wofford of Duquesne-based Wofford ECE Consulting, LLC, which was honored as the MVI workforce program’ s Outstanding Community Partner for 2017; Homestead-based Eat’ n Park Hospitality Group, which was honored as 2017’ s Outstanding Workforce Partner; and Larry Lee of Homestead, who was honored as 2017’ s“ Success Story.”

Mon Valley Initiative’ s Tracey Reaves presents Larry Lee of Homestead with an award honoring him as the workforce team’ s success story for 2017. Lee works for a major Pittsburgh hotel and has become an advocate for MVI’ s job placement services.
THE PITTSBURGH CONCERT CHORALE 2017- 2018 SEASON
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale’ s 2017-2018 concert schedule will offer a varied sampling of music from around the globe.
“ The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale is excited to present musical selections from various parts of the world. The season began here in Pittsburgh with our sixth annual Pittsburgh Sings: Pittsburgh Concert Chorale’ s Festival of Choirs at Carnegie Music Hall, which showcases high school choirs from the Greater Pittsburgh region. Our December Sounds of the Season concert features American favorites and classics from around the globe. Our March concert, Bella Musica!, will take audiences on a breathtaking journey through Italy with music that has resonated in cathedrals, piazzas and opera houses for centuries. Rounding out the season, in May, the PCC goes to Tinseltown for Hooray for Hollywood!, a concert of beloved movie music. Upcoming Concerts: k Sounds of the Season, the annual holiday concert, will be at 7:30 p. m. Friday, Dec. 1, and 4 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Ingomar United Methodist Church; and 7:30 p. m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. PCC presents holiday classics, traditional carols and popular favorites. k Bella Musica! celebrates classical masterpieces rich in Italian heritage. Concertgoers will hear samples of the repertoire that the PCC will perform for its July Italy tour. Concerts are at 7:30 p. m. Saturday, March 3, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church and 4 p. m. Sunday, March 4, at Ingomar United Methodist Church. k The season wraps up in May with Hooray for Hollywood! featuring cinematic hits, past and present. PCC again welcomes Bryan Sable, pianist; Justin Bendel, bassist; and Robert Rawsthorne, drummer, for these performances. Concerts are at 7:30 p. m. Saturday, May 5, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, and 4 p. m.

THE PITTSBURGH CAMERATA ANNOUNCES 2017-2018 SEASON
The Pittsburgh Camerata will present four programs that encompass the breadth and depth of the choral literature-from the late Middle Ages to music hot off the press. The program will include a fall concert titled“ Memories and Remembrances,” a Christmas concert titled“ Magnificat( Bach!) and More,” a winter concert titled“ Heaven to Earth: Earth to Heaven,” and a summer concert titled“ How Can I Keep From Singing? An Evening of American Music.”
