Summer Block Party It’ s party time! Join us at the Westinghouse Lodge on June 9 to celebrate the end of the school year and kick off summer programming. The day is fun and free for the whole family.
Family Tie-Dye Day Tuesday, June 16, at 1 p. m. Families can sign up in half-hour intervals to tie-dye any 100 % cotton garments that they bring, or tote bags we supply! We’ ll teach you how to fold and wrap your tie-dye, dye it and then you get to take it home with the instructions on how to wash and take care of it. Sign up for a time slot on June 16 at ccmellorlibrary. org. Rain date will be June 30.
Hatching Chicks at CCM Edgewood Something big is hatching once again at the library! We’ ll be incubating chicken eggs starting June 10 in the children’ s room at CCM Edgewood. Their projected hatch date is July 1, and then we’ ll get to see the chicks grow and change until they return to the farm July 15. Stop by and visit!
Fun for Kids, Tweens & Teens
Forest Hills Art Explorers Tuesdays at 10:30 a. m. beginning June 16 Come meet the masters of visual art at the library! Every week we’ ll learn about a new artist, see examples of their work, and do a project based on their technique. Draw, paint, cut and print with us all summer! For children 5-8 years old.
Dream Builders Every Thursday from 1-2 p. m. beginning June 11 Join us at the library for a summer of tinkering, building, engineering and imagination! Each week we’ ll have a new project, technique, or theme to build on. For children 5-8 years old. Please register.
Library in the Park Every Wednesday from 2-4 p. m. beginning on June 10 Calling all tweens! This summer we’ ll be heading to Koenig Field for“ Library in the Park”! Check-in will be at 2 p. m. We’ ll then be walking down to the field to enjoy an hour of field games, a snack, and a book-based activity, then walking back to the library for pickup at 4 p. m. Registration and a signed waiver are required for participation. For ages 8-12.
Teen Lo-Fi Chill and Craft Third Tuesday of each month from 4:30-5:30 p. m. beginning June 16 Want a break from the summer heat in a chill space to create? Come join us! On June 16 we will have tie-dye, and on July 21 we will be learning about stained glass!
Adult Summer Programs
Summer QiGong June 11 at 6:30 p. m. Practice gentle movement to embrace summer— a season of warmth, joy and connection in traditional Chinese medicine. Learn methods to balance summer energy, focusing on the heart and small intestine energy pathways.
Knit / Crochet in Public Day June 13 at 12 p. m. Join CCM’ s Knitting Group for Worldwide Knit in Public Day! All yarn craft is welcome! If there’ s rain, the location will be the Fiction Room.
Forest Hills Clothing Swap July 18 from 10 a. m. until 3 p. m. Out with the old and in with the new-to-you! Bring clothing of all sizes in good condition( no rips or stains, please) to our clothing swap!
