LUCCHINO
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
AWARD PRESENTED TO
JIM REARDON
County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and
County Manager William D. McKain
CPA, recently announced that the county
has presented the Frank J. Lucchino
Distinguished Service Award to James P.
Reardon, Director of the Department of
Facilities Management. This is the sixth
Distinguished Service Award presented
by the county since the program was re-
instituted in 2013.
Director Reardon was nominated by
Nancy DiNardo, Manager of Administration
for Facilities Management, referencing his
work at the county for the past 38 years, and
citing Reardon’s tireless work ethic and his
desire to always serve.
Director Reardon began his career with
Allegheny County in 1980. Starting as an
electrician, he was quickly promoted to
foreman and subsequently an electrical
supervisor. In July 2015, he was promoted to
Assistant Deputy Director, then to Deputy
Director and, ultimately in February 2017,
he was named Director of the Department
of Facilities Management. As director, he
is responsible for the maintenance and
improvement of the county’s building
infrastructure of more than 3.5 million
square feet of building space, including
45 major buildings, and other numerous
structures. Reardon has also overseen most
of the sustainability and energy efficiency
projects in the county undertaken by the
department.
Director Reardon was surprised in the
County Executive’s Conference Room,
where he thought he was responding to
an issue with the room, but he opened
icmags.com
the door to find
County Executive
Fitzgerald, County
Manager McKain
and other members
of the administration,
Facilities Management
employees and his wife
and son. Following
remarks, Director Reardon was presented
with a county proclamation from the County
Executive, Council Vice President Futules
and County Council. He also received a
glass paperweight depicting the Allegheny
County Courthouse, tickets to an upcoming
show of the Pittsburgh Musical Theater and
was presented with a formal plaque with a
photograph from the presentation.
TROOPER IWANIEC 10TH
ANNIVERSARY RACE AT
ST. VINCENT COLLEGE
The tenth annual TakeOff: Honor the Past,
Shape the Future Race to benefit the Trooper
Kenton Iwaniec Memorial Foundation is
scheduled for Saturday, April 13, at Saint
Vincent College in Latrobe.
On average, an impaired driver kills
someone every 50 minutes. Just moments
after completing his shift at the Avondale
Barracks, Pennsylvania State Trooper Kenton
Iwaniec, a Westmoreland County native and
Saint Vincent College graduate, was killed
by a drunk driver on March 28, 2008. Over
10,000 families each year are destroyed by
impaired drivers.
TakeOff is a race to honor DUI victims,
raise awareness about the seriousness
of impaired driving and encourage the
community to have a positive influence in the
reduction of impaired driving. All profits will
go to the purchase of Preliminary Breath Test
Devices (PBTs) for the Pennsylvania State
Police and other law enforcement agencies
throughout the Commonwealth. To date,
the Trooper Iwaniec Memorial Foundation
has donated over 1,600 PBTs throughout the
Commonwealth.
Last year’s race was a tremendous success.
With over 1,500 participants, the organization
was able to raise nearly $100,000. Questions?

registration, visit trooperiwaniec.org. ■
