EDGEWOOD COMMUNITY
DAY
This year’s Edgewood Community Day will
be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at
12 p.m. at Koenig Field. Whether you enjoy
live music or great food, or you want to try
your hand at games of skill, this Community
Day will have something for everyone! Many
popular events will take place again this year
including the Wild World of Animals, balloon
artist and magician Billy Heh, children’s crafts,
a bake sale and much more. The Edgewood
Symphony Orchestra will provide live music
in the evening and the sky will explode in
color with Edgewood’s very own fireworks
spectacular as the event comes to a close.

70TH ANNUAL FOREST
HILLS COMMUNITY DAY
The 70th Annual Forest Hills Community
Day, sponsored by the Civic Association, was
held on Monday, July 4, at Forest Hills Park,
located on the corner of Ardmore Boulevard
and Braddock Road.
The annual Ed Bunyan Memorial Biathlon
kicked off the event at 8 a.m. Participants
registered individually or as a team for a
200-meter swim (eight laps across the pool)
followed by a 2.5-mile run through the streets
of Forest Hills. Participants fell into three
age groups: 20 and Under (The Firecracker
Age Group), 21 through 39 (The Patriot
Age Group), 40 and Older (The Yankee Age
Group) and the Team Group (The Stars and
Stripes Group). Upon the completion of the
race the top three male and female finishers
from each age group received awards, in
addition to the top three team finishers.
This year, the Ed Bunyan Memorial
Biathlon also introduced a one-mile fun
run/walk. The one-mile fun run/walk was
a relaxed form of participating, by allowing
people to run or walk a shortened course
while still joining in on the fun community
tradition.
As the event continued throughout the
day, games, entertainment, good food and
neighborly camaraderie were aplenty. For
