empower women to achieve economic independence by providing
a network of support, professional
attire and the development tools
to help women thrive in work
and in life. Join in by making
a monetary contribution;
donating gently used,
nearly new professional
attire; or offering
your time as a volunteer to
empower women in your
community. With your support,
the program can continue providing services that
inspire women to take charge of their lives. Visit the website for
more information on scheduling a donation drop‑off and for other

Clean out your closet to help others! It’s simple. When you
donate your things to Goodwill, you create opportunities for
individuals in your community looking to find a job and build skills,
including veterans and military families, single mothers and many
others. Last year, you helped more than 9.8 million people access
the career, family and financial support services they needed to
succeed. Visit the website for more information.

Add Some Sparkle
Use your love of singing for good this holiday season! Members
of the Pittsburgh Threshold Choir sing in groups of two or three
at the bedsides of hospice patients and others who are very ill, or
dying. It works with a number of hospices in Allegheny County
and will also respond to individual requests when possible. Family
Hospice in Mt. Lebanon is just one of the locations. Visit the
website for more information.
HOLLYWOOD THEATER
PROJECT LINUS

Contact: thehollywooddormont.org, or 412.563.0368
Address: Check the website for the drop-off locations in the South Hills.

This holiday season, give a monetary gift or volunteer to keep
the historic Hollywood Theater going in 2017 and for generations
to come (and be inspired by the fantastic holiday performances!).
For 90 years, the Hollywood Theater has been an anchor of the
Potomac Avenue business district, a landmark in the neighborhood
and a special part of the lives of Dormont-area residents. Year-round
volunteer opportunities include working the concession stand and
distributing schedules and fliers, or sharing a specific skill such as
committee work, grant writing, building maintenance and database
entry. Visit the website for more information.
28 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE | West Mifflin
A great family project to help little ones this holiday season! Its
mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort
to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in
need. It does this by giving them gifts of new, handmade blankets,
quilts and afghans, lovingly created for Project Linus by volunteer
“blanketeers.” The blanketeers are part of the mission as well—
seeking to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for
interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the
benefit of children. Visit the website for more information on
donating specifications and other information.
