“Being a Good
Neighbor is
Important to Me.”
I
f you’re looking for a plumber who can handle any size job—
residential or commercial—and who’s dedicated to serving
not only customers but the community as a whole, look no
further than RDN Plumbing.
Started in 1974 by Robert D. Navilliat with one truck,
the company has grown through the years to a team of 14
employees, all state- and county-licensed plumbers who live in
the community they serve.
“Being a good neighbor is important to me,” Navilliat says. “This
community has helped me out and I believe in giving back to it. I
live here. My children live here. All but three of my employees live
here. We are adamant that we spend our money here, whether it’s
for office supplies, truck supplies, gasoline or mechanical work.”
It’s no wonder that RDN was given a beautification award
by West Homestead Borough and is the go-to plumber for two
local school districts. In addition to being a good neighbor,
the company supports the functions of the churches in the
community as well as Auberle Home for Children.
Not only does RDN do large-scale plumbing jobs and stock the
latest plumbing technology and supplies available, but is happy
to handle the small jobs as well. It is an official contractor with
the three largest home warranty companies in the nation and
you can request RDN by name if you need home warranty work.
The company is also a contractor for the Pennsylvania-American
Home Protection program.
“From the day I went into business, I put quality work and
commitment to my customers first,” Navilliat says. “That’s what
we’re known for and that’s what keeps people coming back time
after time for repairs and maintenance.”
While most homeowners don’t give a second thought to their
plumbing unless there’s a problem, Navilliat notes that there are
several simple things you can do to minimize service calls.
First, simply knowing where your main shut-off valve is and
using it when you go away for long weekends or vacations is a
good idea. “We see a lot of washer hoses that are swollen or have
Robert Navilliat and “Rocky”
big bubbles on them. If no one’s home, there’s no need to leave your
house pressurized like that. Make sure your shut-off valve works and
people in the home know how to use it,” he explains.
The other two important maintenance items homeowners should
pay attention to are draining and cleaning the hot water tank every
two years, and to make sure they have their sewer inspected with
a camera if they are buying a home. “So many people buy a house
and the sewer line is impacted with roots. Knowing that upfront can
save you a lot of headache down the road,” Navilliat adds.
