However, membership is open to all South Hills students, aged 8 to 15, from all school districts. “Right now we have 12 kids and there’s been interest from students in Upper St. Clair, South Fayette, Peters and Washington,” Nolan said. “Every time I talk to people, there seems to be more and more interest in getting involved. But what I’m most impressed with is how talented these kids are. They’re having a lot of fun, but they’re learning the music and show so much potential. It’s exciting and a little scary.” 22 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE | West Mifflin With each rehearsal growing in size, Nolan said she’d like to round out the choir at 45 students, however larger choirs are possible and successful. “There are a lot of ways that we could run it. We could have several rehearsal locations, one close to each community of students,” she said. “Eventually we will have a younger choir develop as a teaching choir to prepare kids to go into the youth choir. There are a lot of possibilities.” Auditions for the South Hills Children’s Choir will be held in May and June and again in August.
