home-schooled students. However, membership is open to all
South Hills students, aged 8 to 15, from all school districts.
“Right now we have 12 kids and there’s been interest
from students in Upper St. Clair, South Fayette, Peters and
Washington,” Nolan said. “Every time I talk to people, there
seems to be more and more interest in getting involved. But what
I’m most impressed with is how talented these kids are. They’re
having a lot of fun, but they’re learning the music and show so

With each rehearsal growing in size, Nolan said she’d like to
round out the choir at 45 students, however larger choirs are
possible and successful.
“There are a lot of ways that we could run it. We could have
several rehearsal locations, one close to each community of
students,” she said. “Eventually we will have a younger choir
develop as a teaching choir to prepare kids to go into the youth
choir. There are a lot of possibilities.”
