ill Hall is proud to announce the opening of its STEAM Lab!!! The new transformation will provide students with
collaborative, hands-on, divergent-thinking activities that will immerse them in cross-curricular activities that
combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in a whole new learning experience.
The STEAM Lab features state-of-the-art equipment, some of which are the first of their kind and exclusive to
Gill Hall Elementary. Gill Hall is one of the very first schools to offer a “virtual reality” experience that utilizes Htc Vive
(headset and hardware) and Steam VR software. Students will also engage in meaningful use of 3D printing and
design, laser engraving, video production and editing, robotics, programming and basic game design.
Faculty and staff participated in a hands-on training provided by Mr. Stephen Lauso, Mrs. Katie Snodgrass, and
Mrs. Amber Pearson who are members of the Gill Hall STEAM Team. Mr. Lauso also provided a tour and explanation of
the equipment to PTA members at the October PTA meeting.
It is amazing to see students working together to create, problem solve, and engage in higher-level thinking skills
while having fun! Another “thank you” goes out to the STEAM Team, GH Faculty, PTA, and WJHSD Board of Directors
for supporting great teaching through the incorporation of 21st Century learning skills!
