AHN BREAKFAST JEFFERSON HOSPITAL
On Friday , March 15 , 2024 , Jefferson Hospital hosted the annual networking breakfast . Students from Steel Center and Thomas Jefferson who are interested in medical related fields were invited and able to attend . Everyone was able to give a one minute commercial about their businesses . Dr . Chong Park , MD , president and CEO of Jefferson and Canonsburg Hospitals , provided each student the opportunity to share what interested them in the medical professions . They were enthusiastic about their interests and plans for the future . It was delightful to watch Dr . Park and the students interact ! Kelly Kassab , the C . O . O , Jefferson and Canonsburg , presented updates on the hospital renovations with a PowerPoint which enhanced the presentation . The main entrance is being totally redone . Featured in the renovations is an electric fireplace , a staircase , new lightning , updated furniture and the relocation of the gift shop . AHN will have a fresh and welcoming entrance to our local community hospital . Cannot wait to see the new updated look ! The TAP ( Talented Attraction Program ) is offered to students and a representative was able to interact with students after the meeting . The website of AHN defines the program below :
As part of the program , prospective students shadow designated mentors at AHN Jefferson , identify their area of interest , and then enroll in respective higher education programs with the Community College of Allegheny County , West Penn School of Nursing , or Citizens School of Nursing to fast-track them onto their career path of choice . TAP covers all tuition costs and related expenses for enrolled students , thanks to support from local philanthropic partners like the Highmark Foundation and Jefferson Regional Foundation . RAISING CANE ’ S RIBBON CUTTING
On Tuesday , May 7 , a ribbon cutting was held at the new Raising Cane ’ s on Rt . 51 at the site of the old Steak and Shake . The event included many of the community organizations , TJ cheerleaders and other athletes , a DJ played music , 20 gifts certificates for a year of Raising Cane ’ s were raffled off to the guests , and promotional gifts were given away . One of the managers gave the history of how the business was started . Banks would not give Todd Graves a loan to start his dream business . So Todd worked on oil refineries in California and the salmon fishing off the coast of Alaska to earn money to open the first Raising Cane ’ s in Baton Rouge , Louisiana . Todd named his business after his yellow labrador retriever , Cane . When you visit the restaurant look for the white hard hat and the salmon on display . Todd exemplifies what it means to follow your dreams and make them come true . All in all the WJHCC welcomes this community minded new neighbor , Raising Cane ’ s .
If anyone would like to have a ribbon cutting ceremony at their business , please contact the chamber .
